Saxophonist- flautist István Grencsó is one of the trend-setters of Hungarian avant-garde jazz. He has worked with the likes of Tobias Delius, Peter Brötzmann and Peter Kowald. In 1984 Grencsó formed his Open Collective, a changing line-up that has meanwhile released ten albums. His music reflects his constant quest for new horizons: not only free improvisations and countless arrangements of jazz standards, but also surprising interpretations of Hungarian dance hits. He has even turned his hand to pop, rock, chansons and classical.

Famous American saxophonist-poet-actor Lewis Jordan met István in 1993 at the Mediawave Festival, but it took them until 2008 to get together again to make music. Open Collective and Lewis Jordan guarantee a concert full of energy and passion.
