Viktor Tóth is one of the new generation of Hungarian jazz musicians, but he has already performed with such great names as Henry Franklin, William Parker, Mihály Dresch and, naturally, Hamid Drake. Tóth is a dedicated musician who ‘seeks to reach oneness with universal harmony’. He and his trio have released two albums, the first of which - the sublime Climbing the Mountains (2007) – won them international prizes. Hamid Drake has long been an established name on the contemporary jazz scene. Renowned for his versatility, he has collaborated intensely with, among others, Peter Brötzmann, Don Cherry, Pharoah Sanders and Ken Vandermark. Mátyás Szandai is one of Hungary’s most sought-after double bass players. He has worked with Gábor Gadó, David Murray, Archie Shepp, Herbie Mann, Chico Freeman and Flavio Boltro. Flemish Jazz magazine ‘Jazzmozaik’ called a Budapest concert by this trio ‘effervescent, adventurous jazz’.
